BERNARD HOGAN-HOWE, QPM by dave richards, retired

Born 1957 and became a police Officer with South Yorkshire in 1979 rising to Chief Superintendant, Studied Law at Merton College (Oxford) gained a diploma in Applied criminology from Cambridge University and later a MBA from Sheffield University.

1977 Transferred to Merseyside Police as Assistant Chief Constable (Community Affairs and then Operations)

July 2001 transferred to the Metropolitan Police as Assistant Commissioner (Human Resources)

2005 Transferred back to Merseyside Police as Chief Constable

2009 Was appointed one of HM Inspector of Constabulary.

2011 Returned to operational Police role with the Metropolitan Police as Deputy Commissioner.

2012 Appointed Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police.
